Recygoup, a French company will recycle tons of wheat from the explosion in the port of Beirut into compost.

A French company announced on Tuesday that it had started in Lebanon a process of recycling tons of cereals left abandoned in the port of Beirut since the explosion of August 4, 2020. With public funding from France to the tune of 1.3 million euros, the company Recygroup International began operations at the port, where last year's devastating explosion killed 200 people.

The grain silos, 48 m high and with a storage capacity of over 100,000 tonnes, were hit hard by the blast of the blast and partially collapsed. “The quantity of grain that we imagine to find will be between 20,000 and 30,000 tonnes. We think we can treat them between three and four months, ”Christophe Deboffe, co-founder of Recygroup, told AFP.
