Several hundred police gathered on Tuesday in front of the courts of different cities at the appeal of police unions outraged by the verdict of the trial of the attack on the police officers of Viry-Châtillon.
In front of the courthouse in Paris, they were about 500 to express their anger.
The Court of Appeal did not follow the requisitions of the Advocate General who had requested a single acquittal and sentences of twelve to twenty-five years of criminal imprisonment for the twelve other defendants, now aged from 21 to 26 years.
“It is a manifestation of anger to express our incomprehension. We end up with eight acquittals instead of five, individuals who have sentences between six and eight years and only three who are sentenced to eighteen years, ”explains Stanislas Gaudron of the Alliance Police union. "It's as if we were saying, you can burn the cop, it will not happen to you much" fulminates Julien Claustre, of the departmental manager Unsa in Essonne.
On October 8, 2016, four police officers were stationed in two cars, opposite the Grande-Borne district in Viry-Châtillon, to monitor a camera mast which had been the subject of several damage and attempted damage.
About fifteen young people had appeared behind their vehicles, smashed the windows and threw Molotov cocktails at the two vehicles, then tried to prevent the police from getting out of their cars.
Two policemen, a man and a woman, had been badly burned.
One of them, a security assistant, had been plunged into a coma for several weeks and still bears the marks of the assault on his face more than four years after the incident.
