Peacocks, birds, but also cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles and rodents… For nearly four years, Charlotte Pasquet has been a self-employed taxidermist.

She stuffs wild and farm animals as well as pets.

Taxidermy, “it's a way for some people to keep their pets, whom they loved dearly, close to them,” she says.

"We support them in a certain way in their grief."

"I am hopeful that this evolves and that people realize that it is not something creepy," she adds.

"I have more and more requests from people who want to stuff their pets, mainly cats." Among her clients, Charlotte Pasquet has a variety of people: couples in their thirties, families…. "We often have the cliché of the grandmother who has her dog stuffed, but they are not the only ones". In his workshop, it takes 260 euros to naturalize his cat. Regarding dogs, it all depends on the size of the latter.

While some taxidermists today refuse to naturalize pets, they represent around 10% of Charlotte's activity.

"It's an interesting facet at the relational level but also because we will also have the history of the animal and see the love of the person who will bring it to us", explains Charlotte Pasquet.

Marie Clare entrusted her cat "Gucci" who died a few months ago to Charlotte Pasquet to have it stuffed.

Every morning, now, the ritual is to go and stroke it.

She "was part of the family but we had to let her go because she had tumors," says Marie Clare.

"It might seem weird but we wanted to keep her with us, as a souvenir, to continue to stroke her and just love her."

Before being taken in hand by a taxidermist, the dead animal must be "frozen".

But for Marie Clare, the result is worth it.

“When I went to look for Gucci at Charlotte, it gave me a lot of emotions.

She was so beautiful, ”she told us.
