In a rear-end collision, the person who crashes into the rear of the vehicle in front is usually to blame.

However, if you deliberately provoke this, you will be in for a nasty surprise.

Koblenz – If you get angry, you pay for other people's mistakes.

Very special: other drivers.

Anyone who feels unfairly treated by another road user should take this wisdom into account.

For example, because he gave him the right of way.

Rule of thumb: Always stay cool and relaxed, if possible defuse the error by your own prudence.

And by no means resort to vigilante justice (as this Audi driver did for a minor reason).

Because that can backfire.

The vehicle in front can also be to blame for a rear-end collision.

Vigilante justice with the brakes: Who is to blame when it crashes?

This is shown by the case dealt with by the Koblenz Higher Regional Court.

It was about a car driver who was given the right of way by a truck.

To show her anger, the woman overtook the truck and slowed it down.

Not a good idea as the truck crashed into the back of the car.

No one was injured in the crash, but there was significant property damage.

The driver wanted the trucker to replace it.

So she went to court and lost.

Because the court rated the woman's driving maneuver as grossly illegal.

The accident happened solely because of their behavior, the portal RA-Online summarizes the decision.

The so-called "apparent evidence", after which the guilt of the person behind is suspected in rear-end collisions, does not apply here.

Vigilante justice with the brakes: It's not always the fault of the rear-end driver

In plain language: Normally, in rear-end collisions, it is assumed that the person behind is to blame.

Because he was asleep or not enough distance.

After all, you always have to drive in such a way that you can always stop in front of an obstacle.

Whoever wants to educate other road users with an unexpected braking manoeuvre, or even take revenge, puts himself (and later in court) in the wrong.
