The weather deteriorated sharply between the Pilat massif, the Ondaine valley, Saint-Étienne and as far as the Gier valley, with gusts of nearly 80km/h and heavy hailstorms.
On social networks, many Internet users have published impressive images of these bad weather, with devastating hailstones, as indicated by journalist Léo Chapuis on Twitter.
“
Broken windows, damaged roofs, dented car bodies
”.
Floods were also reported around Saint-Etienne, with numerous accidents on the A 47 motorway. Heavy hailstorms had already hit several departments in the Rhône-Alpes region but also in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Brittany at the end of June causing significant material damage.
The weather should not change this Monday over the whole country with sunshine in the North despite some cumulus clouds, possible thunderstorms in the South and very hot weather near the Mediterranean.
