There was a shooting at the High School in Newport News, Virginia, authorities reported at approximately 11:30 a.m. and police are still inside the school building assessing the scene as students were evacuated, said a police public information officer.
The students were taken to the school's tennis courts, according to a Newport News Police tweet.
Newport News VA police say two people were taken to the hospital after the shooting.
According to the authorities, they have injuries that "are not believed to be life-threatening."
Police tweeted through verified outlets that the investigation is ongoing.
