Vox considers its relations with the PP broken after the declaration of Abascal as a person 'non grata' in Ceuta

The decision of the Ceuta Assembly to declare Santiago Abascal 'persona non grata', thanks to the abstention of the PP, has raised to unprecedented levels since the motion of censure against Pedro Sánchez, in October 2020, the tension between the popular and the ultra party.

"We consider that the PP has broken relations with Vox, we take note and consider the relations as broken," said the ultra party spokesman, Jorge Buxadé, after the meeting of his Political Action Committee.

What consequences will this break have?

"The PP will not be able to continue demanding help to approve its proposals in plenary sessions [of regional assemblies] and city councils," Buxadé assured.

However, the Vox spokesman has opened the door to restore the broken relationships if the PP "reconsiders its erroneous decision and repairs the damage caused."

The words of the popular Andrea Levy, assuring that her party is against "the statements of 'persona non grata', the signs and the sanitary cordons" are not enough for Vox, which demands a pronouncement from the national leadership of the PP, according to Buxadé .

What has filled the patience of the ultra party have been the demonstrations of the president of Ceuta, the popular Juan Jesús Vivas, who this Monday has described the abstention of his group as “responsible”. Interviewed by COPE, the Ceutí president recalled that Abascal's declaration of “persona non grata” has its origin in the visit that the Vox leader made to the autonomous city on May 24, in the midst of a crisis due to the irregular entry of more than 10,000 immigrants from Morocco. “At that critical moment”, in which all the parties joined forces to defend the Spanishness of the city, Vivas added, “Mr. Abascal came to say that in the Ceuta Assembly there are parties that serve the interests of Morocco, that They are fifth columnists from Morocco, I quote verbatim ”. Along the same lines, he has added,Vox “criticized the presence in Ceuta” of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, who went to the city to “affirm that Ceuta is Spain”.

Buxadé has accused the PP of being "a necessary cooperator in the strategy of demonization and dehumanization of Vox" and has used the same xenophobic language that provoked Abascal's disapproval, calling out "Islamist and pro-Moroccan parties" to local formations represented in the Ceuta Assembly, as Party for Dignity and Citizenship (PDC) or Caballas.

In parallel to the anger with the national leadership of the PP, Buxadé has emphasized the rupture of his party with the Andalusian president, José Manuel Moreno Bonilla, of the PP, whom he has accused not only of having breached but also “betrayed” his pact investiture with Vox. The ultra party spokesman has charged against the Junta's strategy against immigration, calling it "irresponsible" and causing a "pull effect" in an Andalusia "besieged" by irregular immigrants. Of course, after ensuring that his party will not support any proposal of the PP in the Andalusian Parliament, he has clarified that he will not promote or support "never" a motion of censure against Bonilla, because it would mean giving the Government to the left. That's the trap Vox is caught in.
