Walter Frederick "Fritz" Mondale, who was vice president of the United States in the era of former President Jimmy Carter, has died at the age of 93, announced family spokeswoman Kathy Tunheim.
"As proud as we were that he led the presidential nomination for Democrats in 1984, we know that our father's public policy legacy is much more than that," says a family statement.
