The Ukrainian president spoke this Wednesday by videoconference on the occasion of the NATO summit being held in Madrid.

The warning is strong.

This Wednesday, the Ukrainian president spoke by videoconference to the leaders of the member countries of NATO, who have been meeting since the day before at a summit in Madrid.

Volodymyr Zelensky took advantage of his speech to ask for modern artillery and financial support to deal with the invasion of his country by Russian forces.

"For us to break the preponderance of Russian artillery, a significant advantage, we need a lot more of these modern systems, this modern artillery", indicated the Ukrainian president, affirming that "the financial support for Ukraine is as important as arms aid" in view of its "multi-billion dollar deficit", while Moscow benefits from its oil and gas export revenues.

According to him, Ukraine needs "about 5 billion dollars a month" to ensure its defense.

The maintenance of sanctions, an “absolute necessity”

"If you really define Russia as the main threat, you must fully support its first and main target", continued Volodymyr Zelensky, assuring that Ukraine was fighting for "the future world order".

The Ukrainian president also once again called for tougher sanctions against Moscow, an “absolute necessity” which “will stop its ability to pay for the war”.

Ukraine already receives heavy armaments and support from Western countries but faces, in certain areas of the front, powerful assaults from Russian forces.

Ukrainian troops had to withdraw recently from the eastern city of Severodonetsk after weeks of fierce fighting.

During his speech, the Ukrainian president also assured that Moscow wanted to “humiliate” Europe.

"If Russia destroys us, it will destroy you," he insisted, assuring that "Ukraine's objectives" were "the same as those of" NATO.
