Now three members of the Expert Council are defending themselves against the allegations.

Berlin – After the Corona report was published last Friday, there was a lot of criticism.

, three experts from the expert commission now defend themselves against the allegations.

"A final assessment of individual measures of the corona pandemic is simply not possible," write the experts

.

It goes on to say: "We often cannot evaluate individual measures, since these were usually used in conjunction with many other measures, and we cannot simply transfer results from other countries to ourselves."

The expert commission found that protective measures could not be evaluated individually.

According to the three experts and authors Hendrik Streeck, Jutta Allmendinger and Christoph M. Schmidt, the evaluation of the corona protection measures was started too late.

A total of 18 experts belong to the independent body, who presented the report last Friday.

Corona experts from the expert commission defend themselves against criticism

"The expected headwind turned into a veritable storm even before the report was presented last Friday," say the experts.

The criticism was particularly severe for the composition of the commission, which the appointed experts have no influence on.

They explain that more members from epidemiology and public health research would have been good for the commission.

Many also denounced the scientific quality of the report.

In their contribution, the experts counter that: "Due to the lack of time and resources, not all 200,000 existing studies on Corona could be evaluated." Studies that had not yet been reviewed by independent researchers were used nonetheless.

This enabled the current pandemic events to be recorded.

Criticism also of Karl Lauterbach

The Commission drew the attention of Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) to the scarce resources of the experts at an early stage.

Studies and further research work could not be viewed in some cases due to a lack of resources.

All committee members carry out their work on a voluntary basis.

Ultimately, the Commission also made specific demands.

Including the introduction of a right to social contacts for school children and sick people.

The expert commission was able to present clear results on contact restrictions, school closures and the obligation to wear corona masks, the reintroduction of which in autumn was recently criticized by Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP).

Experts also criticize journalists

In their contribution, the commission members write: "When a journalist is on at a press conference and does not ask a single question, but publishes a highly critical comment in a major daily newspaper before the press conference is over, then we have reached a point where the relationship between science and the media will be permanently damaged."
