In our Premier League a scandal haunts a scandal, a failure chases a default - and yet it is hard to remember when was the last time we experienced a disgrace of this magnitude, when less than two hours to the opening whistle of the Maccabi Haifa championship game, and when 7,000 champion fans are already making their way to Shlomo Insurance Stadium Announce the cancellation of the game due to Sakhnin's failure to provide the required number of ushers.

Just two days after the bizarre incident, a number of Haifa fans rushed to the services of lawyers, and have already submitted to the court a request for approval of a class action lawsuit against the Bnei Sakhnin football club.

• Maccabi Haifa fans have filed a motion for a class action lawsuit against Sakhnin

Advocate David Mana, an expert in class actions and tort law, says: "On the face of it, it seems that Haifa fans do have a good reason for a class action lawsuit.

At least according to what has been reported so far, the Bnei Sakhnin have indeed been negligent in their preparations for the game and are responsible for this omission.

"Also with regard to the question of whether damage was done to the fans, it seems that the chances of the fans are good, as it will be difficult to argue with the claim that a fan who bought a ticket and already made his way to the game was not harmed, even before talking about the importance of the game

. Advocate Mana cautions, "Approval of a class action lawsuit depends on many other factors: the identity of the representing plaintiff, the moves that may still be taken by the club to heal the damage and more. "Most of the requests for approval of the class actions are based on a reasonable cause."

Haifa fans are not the only ones who have a good cause of action against the club, which was conducted negligently.

As Mana explains, "Even the club's various suppliers, such as the buffet owners and those who have already been prepared for the game and ended up left with unclaimed goods, can sue the club."

Advocate Mana further explained that the director of the football leagues, who is the supervisory body that was supposed to make sure that Sakhnin was properly prepared for the game, can also find itself a defendant. Or at least a part, to the principal through what is called in legal parlance "third party notice".
