Mexico will seek in the 2022 Qatar World Cup what it has not achieved so far: advance beyond the quarterfinals.
Despite being one of the usual World Cup participants, Mexico has never played in the semifinals.
And this year, with the help of Argentine Gerardo "Tata" Martino, he will seek to mark a milestone in the country's soccer history.
The "Tri" will integrate Group C of the World Cup in Qatar together with Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia.
Precisely Argentina was the executioner of Mexico in the round of 16 of the World Cups in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010.
"Chicharito" Hernández and Vela will not go to the World Cup with Mexico, confirms "Tata" Martino
Gerardo Martino's team, which finished second in the Concacaf qualifiers on goal difference (he scored 28 points, the same as Canada), will debut in the World Cup against Poland, in a key duel for qualification aspirations.
It will be on November 22 in Doha.
Four days later, Mexico will face Argentina in Lusail, while on November 30, in the same city, they will close their participation in the group stage against Saudi Arabia, the team that, a priori, starts as the weakest in the area. .
