Does your child examine the letters and numbers in the book?

Runs his finger over the words and even asks "what is written here"?

- What fun to be blessed with a curious and alert child to learn.

This is your place to provide him with spontaneous learning and do it right and gradually.

Noa Meiri, a certified behavior facilitator, parent counselor and infant development, details what should be emphasized:

Toddlers have a number of topics for learning and it is worth focusing on the "simpler" and age-appropriate topics such as colors, animals, etc.

Since toddlers learn as part of a long process that first and foremost begins with a sensory experience, before you begin a new learning - examine the knowledge that is already established in him (and you may be surprised to find out what he already knows).

Once you have focused on the grounded knowledge and seen that it does exist and is accurately retrieved, move the learning only one step forward.

At all times it is important to maintain a calm environment and not to sail in expectations from the child.

Learning numbers

Children count and recite numbers from an early age.

They may have learned this from a song or a play, but that does not mean that they understand the meaning, or if you show them a number they knew how to recognize it.

To teach children to recognize numbers, work visually: Draw the numbers in the sand, on a sheet of paper, using cubes or plasticine, and say the number aloud.

This is how the toddler will relate the word "one" to how it actually looks.

Once the child has acquired the knowledge - start teaching stock.

This is the most complex learning for our toddler about numbers, as this is how he understands and learns quantity, since a stock is a match between the names of the books and the quantity.

In a stock, it is more correct to combine spontaneous learning - not a defined time in which you sit and practice, but learning from everyday life.

For example, counting the stairs on the way home, counting the cucumbers at dinner, etc.

Letter learning

Here, too, there is a difference between a visual identification of a word and an understanding of the letters, their meaning and the sounds that correspond to them. Usually the ability to recognize a word like the name of the child or father will appear first. Then the ability to separate the letters and recognize sounds will appear.

To deepen the process of learning the letters set a deliberate learning time. You can use the tabs where one letter is displayed at a time and repeat the sound, or for more advanced ones - say a word that starts with the same sound. Along with intentional learning, allow for casual learning at any given moment, while emphasizing the toddler's natural curiosity.

The Jama app was established with the aim of addressing mothers of babies from birth to age three, and centralizing for them content, activities, tips from experts and videos that will accompany them throughout this challenging period.

All the content in the app "grows" together with the baby and is precisely adapted to its developmental stages, so that the mothers receive only what is relevant to them and interests them at any given moment.

The Jama app is the place for mothers in Israel to meet and get to know other mothers around them, and create new and exciting friendships in the fascinating journey.
