(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 18 - Demonstration of Whirlpool workers in front of Mise, who arrived from Naples and beyond, on the day in which Fim, Fiom and Uilm proclaimed 8 hours of strike in all 7 plants of the group. The workers are requesting interventions against the layoffs and the closure of the Naples plant and for the future of Whirlpool Italia, with respect, also for the other sites, of the industrial plan signed in 2018 at that very site. "Attendance to the strike is very high. The gates in Varese are closed with 100% adhesion, in all the other plants it is 95%", said the national secretary of Fiom-Cgil and head of the household appliance sector, Barbara Tibaldi.
This is "an issue that concerns all the workers of the group and their future. Saving Naples is saving Whirlpool. We will not allow the dispute to be forgotten. We need to invest in the Italian industry and in the industry that brings jobs to Italy," he added.
The square observed a minute of silence for the worker who died this morning hit by a truck, during a demonstration, in front of the gates of the Lido of Biandrate (Novara).
