Why choose an inflatable canoe?

2022-08-05T19:12:26.600Z

Often very popular, water sports require a little equipment to be able to practice them in good conditions. Among them

As soon as the weather is nice, there's nothing like a little outdoor activity to enjoy nature and the fresh air.

If you are lucky enough to have a water point not far from your home, you can go inflatable canoeing.

A significant advantage, you can indulge in it both on calm waters, for example a lake or a pond, and on more agitated waters, in particular rivers with current or the sea with waves.

Very practical, this type of boat is aimed at all levels and can suit both beginners and experienced sailors.

You can inflate it only when you need to use it and fold it up when you need to move it or store it for much more practicality.

    What are the differences between an inflatable canoe and a rigid canoe?

    Avant de vous décider sur le modèle de canoë que vous souhaitez acheter, vous devez définir si vous voulez un canoë gonflable ou bien un modèle rigide. Pour vous aider à choisir, nous vous expliquons plus en détails les différences entre les deux embarcations, et surtout leurs avantages et inconvénients. Contrairement à ce que l’on pourrait croire, un canoë gonflable sera très solide. Il contient des fibres qui vont s’emboîter lors du gonflage afin de solidifier la surface qui devient bien plus dure. Même s’ils sont abîmés, les canoës gonflables peuvent être réparés assez facilement, des kits de réparations sont souvent fournis lors de l’achat. Ce type de bateau est par ailleurs plus léger que les modèles rigides. Autre avantage, vous pouvez le dégonfler quand vous le souhaitez afin qu’il devienne plus compact et soit donc beaucoup plus simple à transporter. Notez que la plupart des canoës gonflables sont vendus avec leur pompe de gonflage, vous avez donc directement tout le nécessaire. De son côté, le canoë rigide restera tout de même plus solide qu’un modèle gonflable. Il est généralement un peu plus gros et sera capable d’aller plus vite sur l’eau.

    Comment réparer un canoë gonflable ?

    Votre canoë gonflable est abîmé ? Pas de panique, il est tout à fait possible de le réparer. Voici les étapes à suivre :

    • Dévisser la valve et retirer la vessie (la partie qui se gonfle) de l’enveloppe en nylon ;
    • Gonfler la vessie pour trouver la fuite ;
    • Entourer au crayon l’endroit de la fuite pour la repérer par la suite puis dégonfler la vessie ;
    • Poncer légèrement la surface endommagée sur une zone de 6 cm environ tout autour de l’accroc. Réaliser cela sur une surface plate, sèche et propre ;
    • Découper un patch en PVC d’environ 5 cm de côté. Arrondir les coins pour éviter que le patch s’accroche et se décolle ;
    • Mettre en place le patch avec la colle ;
    • Chasser les éventuelles bulles d’air avec votre spatule ;
    • Enlever les excédents de colle ;
    • Bien appuyer pour faire adhérer le patch ;
    • Wait 24 hours without touching it until the glue dries and sets.

    How to store it?

    Once the season is over, you will have to put away your inflatable canoe.

    To begin, it must be cleaned and deflated.

    Rinse it well with clean water then unscrew the bottom valve so that the water inside flows out, let it dry.

    Then remove the seats.

    You can now remove the valve from the bladder to let the air escape.

    To speed up the process, fold your canoe, this will squeeze out the rest of the air.

    Once folded, store it in an airtight box.

    It will be protected from temperature changes, but also from insects and other small animals that may cross its path
