Liz Cheney: Trump Shouldn't Play a Role in America's Future (February) 1:28

(CNN) -

There was an exchange Thursday between John Roberts of Fox News and Texas Rep. Kevin Brady that is remarkably revealing about how lost the Republican Party is right now.

Here it is:

Roberts:

"President Donald Trump says that the 'Big Lie' was the result of the 2020 election. Liz Cheney says no, that the 'Big Lie' was to suggest that the 2020 election was stolen.

Between the two of them, who is right?

«

Brady:

"I'll leave that dispute to them."

Eh what?

So Brady, who not in vain has already announced that he is retiring at the end of this term of Congress and that, therefore, he no longer has anything to fear from former President Trump, does he still not dare to answer that simple question about the choice?

This is all I needed to say: I wanted Trump to win, I campaigned for him, and I voted for him.

But every objective review of the results and all the various legal challenges that were filed after the election make it clear that Joe Biden won and Donald Trump lost.

Look, because this is NOT like tossing a 50-50 odds coin!

It's not a kind of thing: some-people-say-that-the-2020-election-was-stolen-while-others-say-it-not!

The facts say that Biden won the election with all of the law.

Conspiracy theorists - and the former president of the United States! - say all kinds of nefarious things were happening.

One of these facts is true!

The other one is completely false!

Brady, of course, knows.

Brady, of course, knows.

He, unlike some of his recently elected Republican Party colleagues (* coughs * Marjorie Taylor Greene * coughs *), has been in Washington and in politics long enough to understand that there is nothing in Trump's claims. on electoral fraud, no matter how often and how loudly the former president repeats them.

Which, if you think about it, makes what Brady is doing actually worse.

He KNOWS what the "Big Lie" is, he just doesn't want to tell it because he's afraid it will pit him against Trump and his staunch supporters.

The point: Political courage is in short supply among elected Republicans these days.

It is very rare.
