Will they win?

The 2022 Eurovision final was launched and this time - for the first time since 2014 - without an Israeli representative.

Michael Ben David as mentioned participated in the second semi-final which took place on Thursday but unfortunately did not qualify for the final.

The competition taking place in Turin is the 66th Eurovision Song Contest produced by the European Broadcasting Union and the Italian Broadcasting Authority RAI.

Italy hosted the competition after its representative the band Monskin won last year a competition held in the Netherlands.

The Eurovision Song Contest is hosted by pop star Mika, Grammy winner Laura Fawcini and Italian presenter Alessandro Catalan.

The country that leads the betting tables is Ukraine. In addition to that, the UK is also very popular and so is the Italian song.

Traditionally, the country that wins the Eurovision Song Contest hosts the competition the following year.

This year, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is preparing for the possibility that another country will host the competition in the event that Ukraine wins the Eurovision Song Contest.

In his first interview in Israel with the Kalush Orchestra, published last month in Walla!

Culture, we asked the band if in case of a win they believe that Ukraine in 2023 will be in a position where it can host the competition.

"We have great hope that we can fully rebuild our country, and that we can invite you all to our wonderful country, and that you will all want to come," said Harper Ola Pasiuk, founder of Kalush.

There are several options for hosting the competition next year in case Ukraine, which leads in the betting tables, does win.

The first possibility is that Ukraine will receive the right of hospitality out of politeness, and will later declare that it is unable to host 40 delegations and guarantee their safety.

The second option is to offer second place to host the competition.

A third option is to offer one of the big countries that has not won for decades, such as France, Spain, or the UK, to host the 2023 Eurovision

Song Contest.

The winner that year was ultimately Ukraine, which brought us all to Kiev for the Eurovision Song Contest which was already being held under very heavy security.

Either way, no one is interested in another Eurovision in Italy in the coming years.

The last time Medina won the competition and did not host the following year was Israel, which won the Jerusalem Home Eurovision in 1979 with "Hallelujah."

The competition took place the following year in the Netherlands and was set for IDF Martyrs' Day, thus making Israel the only country to win the Eurovision Song Contest and not participate in the following year.

As mentioned, Israel did not participate in the Eurovision final, The second, during which a particularly embarrassing moment was recorded when Ben-David surprised the presenters while they were next to all the contestants, was pushed to the live broadcast, stood by their side - and gave them kisses.
