The third Grand Slam of the year is about to begin.

This Monday, June 27, hundreds of players from the men's and women's circuits of professional tennis will step onto the legendary grass of the Wimbledon courts.

Despite the fact that the ATP and the WTA decided that they will not give points for rankings in this year's edition (due to Wimbledon's decision to prohibit the participation of Russian and Belarusian players), it is still one of the most anticipated Grand Slams by tennis fans.

In the first round of Wimbledon 2022, we will have a total of 128 matches (64 in the men's rome and 64 in the women's), so we will have tennis for many days.

Here's everything you need to know about this year's edition.

Wimbledon 2022 dates

This year's grass-court Grand Slam will be played from June 27 to July 10.

Table of matches

As it was said a few paragraphs before, the first round will have 128 games.

The men's 64 have at one end of the draw the best seed of this edition, Novak Djokovic, while at the other end is the second best seed, Rafael Nadal.

If both Djokovic and Nadal win all their matches (first, second, third, fourth round, quarter-finals and semi-finals), they could face each other in the 2022 Wimbledon final.

Here we show you both keys of the men's match bracket:

Meanwhile, at one end of the Wimbledon women's bracket, we have World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, while at the other end is World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit.

If both win all their matches, there could be a final between the two tennis players.

Here is the Wimbledon 2022 women's match table:

Who are the favorites for Wimbledon 2022?

Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will be looking to continue his winning streak in 2022. At the moment, if we only talk about Grand Slams, he has already won victories at the Australian Open in January and at Roland Garros in June (which was the 14th title for the "king of clay" at the French Open).

  • Rafael Nadal wins his 14th Roland Garros title and enlarges his legend

On the other hand, the Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek will try to increase her imposing pace so far this year.

At the beginning of June, she won the Roland Garros (her second Grand Slam title of her career) and with it reached a streak of 35 consecutive games undefeated, something not seen since 2000 with the 35 games won in a row by Venus Williams.

And not only they are the favorites.

In the absence of Daniil Medvedev (due to the tournament decision on Russian and Belarusian players) and Alexander Zverev (due to injury), other players to watch include multi-champion Novak Djokovic, Matteo Berrettini, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger Aliassime and Carlos Alcaraz.

Likewise, in the women's branch, other favorites are Karolína Pliskova (finalist last year), Anett Kontaveit, Ons Jabeur, Paula Badosa (numbers 2, 3 and 4 in the world, respectively) and Serena Williams (who has 23 Grand Slams in her career and is one shy of tying the all-time record held by Margaret Court).

It should be noted that Williams was out of it due to injury since last year and recently played her first games, but that does not take away the favorite badge.
