Wolf spotted in the district of Miesbach: Video circulates on WhatsApp - community in fear

A wolf may have been spotted at Seehamer See.

A video is circulating on social media.

Now fear is rampant.

- The video shows a mighty gray animal trotting through green meadows.

It looks like a pretty big wolf.

District alpine farmer Anton Maier from Rottach-Egern also received the video recorded from a car via What'sApp.

And belongs where it was created: at Seehamer See, Weyarn municipality.

Not only he is scared of the video that is currently haunting social media.

But there are still many unanswered questions.

Is the animal a wolf or is it a very large dog?

And where was the video made?

In order to clarify this, the Miesbach District Office yesterday forwarded the recording to the State Office for the Environment for review. The experts have not yet come to a final conclusion. “The video is currently being examined. It is verified whether it is a wolf and the location of the recording, ”said a spokesman for the state office. According to the current state of knowledge of the state office, the video of the alleged wolf was recorded on Monday afternoon in the Miesbach district. Incidentally, every wolf record is only a snapshot, the question of the whereabouts of individual animals cannot be conclusively answered, the spokesman makes clear. It is a "specially and strictly" protected animal.

According to the district office, a wolf was last detected in the district about ten years ago.

The animal had killed four sheep in the Fischbachau community.
