The German soccer players started their World Cup qualification with the planned victory.
In front of only 1534 spectators in Cottbus, the playful selection of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg prevailed against the Bulgarians who were hopelessly overwhelmed in the end with 7-0 (3-0).
After a muddled start, Bayern duo Lea Schüller (21st) and Lina Magull (24/33) converted the superiority of the DFB team into goals in the first half.
Linda Dallmann (67th / 82nd), again Schüller (72nd) and Tabea Waßmuth (76th) followed suit.
The victory should have been even clearer, often the last precision was missing.
On Tuesday (4 p.m. / ZDF), the DFB team in Chemnitz is likely to expect more resistance against Serbia.
The other opponents in Group H are Israel, Turkey and Portugal.
Only the group winners will qualify directly for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Marozsan convinces at the DFB comeback
Voss-Tecklenburg relied on an offensive 4-3-3 formation around ten months before the European Championships in England (July 6th to 31st, 2022). The clock generator Dzsenifer Marozsan, flown in from the USA, started with Sara Däbritz and Lina Magull in the busy headquarters. The 29-year-old Marozsan, currently on loan from Olympique Lyon to the American top club OL Reign for six months, was back in the DFB selection after several months of absence and was involved in numerous creative and promising scenes.
At the front, in the absence of captain Alexandra Popp (knee injury), something surprisingly began, Sydney Lohmann on the side of the central Schüller and Svenja Huth on the right.
Against low-lying opponents, the young defensive team around 19-year-old Lena Oberdorf was almost exclusively in demand as head of defense, which was surprisingly often hooked at the beginning.
In the drizzle, however, the hosts persistently searched for the crucial gaps in the Bulgarian half of the game.
At first, a lot went over the right side, which also resulted in the opening goal: Däbritz sent Kathrin Hendrich, whose exemplary flank Schüller artistically exploited in the jump.
Shortly afterwards, Magull closed the penalty area with a full right-footed shot, the 1.66-meter-tall midfielder scored her second goal with a head from close range - the Bulgarian team was only trying to limit the damage.
In view of the comfortable lead, Voss-Tecklenburg made three changes immediately after the half.
The German team also played one-way street football with changed staff.
Above all, the wings provided the desired spaces, which the DFB team consistently used.
