SV Wangen does not want to see wild boars digging up the entire football field again.

The city has now verbally promised to contribute 10,000 euros to a fence.

Wangen - SV Wangen is relieved: The club has collected the money to protect its football field with a fence from wild boars visiting again.

This was reported by chairman Winfried Wobbe when asked by Merkur.

The animals living in the forest had completely devastated the field in September 2020.

For months, the athletes were busy filling large holes and making the course playable again.

The soccer team had to move to Starnberg at times (we reported).

The SVW absolutely wants to avoid a repetition of the disaster this year - with a 120-meter-long bar mat fence that costs around 15,000 euros.

On Tuesday the club commissioned a company in Germering, says Wobbe and emphasizes: "I am really very happy that it worked out quickly after all."

Worried about another wild boar visit

By “on the fly”, the club boss doesn't mean that the grant was granted so incredibly quickly. The athletes had to follow up several times to get the funds. The worries about the next wild boar visit are getting bigger and bigger, now that it is autumn and the animals in the forest can no longer find much to eat. Wobbe means rather the unbureaucratic solution that the city has now found. She verbally promised the SVW a grant of 10,000 euros. Spokeswoman Lena Choi confirms that. The municipality will grant 5000 euros this year because the winter cover for the fountain on the church square can be postponed until next year, she explains. The SVW will receive the other half as planned in the budget year 2022.

However, 5,000 euros are still missing to pay the fence company.

The association borrows them from the Wangen village community, the amalgamation of all local associations, explains Wobbe.

Until the city pays out the second 5000 euros.

Despite the verbal approval, the main and finance committee still has to approve the grant.

Pure formality, predicts spokeswoman Choi.

“The topic was already on the agenda.

We do not expect a rejection. "

In times of fully booked craftsmen, it is still uncertain when the SVW can count on the fence.

Wobbe: "Maybe we can put up a temporary electric fence by then."
