Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed his country's readiness to make efforts to create conditions for dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan to stop the escalation in the Nagorno Karabakh region.
Zarif called, through a tweet on Twitter today, for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the start of dialogue to settle differences between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that this matter is a priority for Iran.
Zarif said, "We are ready to make efforts to create the conditions for dialogue because our region today needs peace."
The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region witnessed a sudden military escalation, while the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides exchanged accusations about the reasons for the escalation.
These developments come after two months of a similar escalation in the border region between Armenia and Azerbaijan in mid-July, where the two sides exchanged accusations of causing it.
