The food price index calculated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) fell by 0.7% in February compared to January. In total over one year, this index fell by 10.5%.

The main reason is the spectacular fall in the cereal price index. As for wheat, the drop in prices is linked to “the sustained pace of exports from Russia which has exerted downward pressure on prices from other origins, in particular from the European Union’.
