Orano, the French uranium specialist, has launched into two new activities: battery recycling and medicine. The current model of the nuclear industry was designed to operate until the end of the next decade.

To survive, Orano had to think about other areas of activity, far from its core business which consists of supplying and reprocessing the fuel used in nuclear power plants. “The recycling of metals which make up batteries, electrodes, anodes… is a profession close to our expertise in hydrometallurgy or even powder chemistry ”, explained Nicolas Maes, the general director of Orano.
