McDonald's reaches an agreement to buy the Alonyal group, owner of 225 franchised restaurants in Israel. The franchise is singled out by some customers for having offered thousands of free meals to the Israeli army as part of the war in Gaza.
The amount of the transaction, which remains subject to “certain conditions” not detailed, was not disclosed. In electronic trading after the New York Stock Exchange closed on Thursday, McDonald's shares lost 1.98%. “The impact is significant,” said McDonald's president of international franchise development.
