Olivia Grégoire, the Minister Delegate in charge of Business, Tourism and Consumption spoke on BFMTV on Friday. She wants a “text of law at the start of the school year in September” The system of using meal vouchers in supermarkets is supposed to expire on December 31, 2024.

According to a ViaVoice study carried out for the national commission for meal vouchers, 96% of French people are in favor of extending the system. The minister declares that “30% of meal vouchers are paper” before adding that they are the source of 40 million euros of purchasing power which disappears each year through the loss of a daily voucher. “We can very well imagine solutions, where the consumer would have access to promotions or a dessert if they use the restaurant voucher” she underlines. ‘Proposals are on the table, do we need 25 euros in restaurants and 25 euro in large and medium-sized stores? There are ideas for double ceilings which are currently being discussed,’ she said.
