Chilean group Luksic has expressed its interest in investing in the San Juan Pachón project. Antofagasta Minerals plans to invest US$ 7.5 billion in Chile alone in the next three years.

The company is also behind the extension of the useful life of Los Pelambres Futuro, which requires a permit estimated for 2024, with an additional investment of US$1 billion. In Argentina, the main copper operation was Bajo la Bajo, which stopped producing in 2018, and there are six projects, with probable construction dates, in four provinces. They are capable of providing the metal for the next 50 years, says Iván Arriagada, executive president of the mining company, in an interview with the Chilean media Diario Financiero. The mining company entered Peru for the first time by acquiring 19% of the Buenaventura project, the largest Peruvian mining company in terms of market capitalization and rights to deposits in that country.
