A court ruling stops new permits to extract lithium in Catamarca. The measure gave rise to an appeal presented by the Atacameños Native Community.

The Salar del Hombre Muerto project is operated by the mining company Arcadium Lithium. The decision does not impact the projects that are currently being developed, according to business sources. If not, it warns about the activity of future projects until the environmental report is presented. The controversy is framed in a clash that the provincial government - headed by Raul Jalil - has been having since last year.
