TotalEnergies has signed with the sugar maker Cristal Union for a methanizer powered by beet pulp. France has 652 methanization sites, 560 of which are agricultural, for an annual production capacity of 11.8 terawatt hours (TWh) The government's draft low-carbon strategy targets production of 44 TWh in 2030.
For the former, this represents a significant source of additional income, for the latter, a means of greening their energy mix.
