Sony lays off 900 employees in its PlayStation branch, or 8% of its global workforce. Employees in all regions will be affected, as well as three of PlayStation's most prestigious studios.

Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, said the company needs more resources to focus on mobile and PC games. In January, Microsoft announced the layoff of 1,900 people in its “games” division, in order to consolidate the acquisition of Activision.. Since the start of the year, layoffs have amounted to nearly 44,000 people, according to the site, in 171 companies.
