Food prices had been rising at a rate of 37% month-on-month (against 4 weeks ago) in the second half of December and rose to 15 and 13% in the last two weeks of January respectively. This month, some foods stopped their weekly decline and EcoGo estimates that by the end of February they will have increased 14.4%, compared to 20.3% in January.

The increase in food in January was led by cold cuts, with a 38% increase in the average monthly variation, according to the consulting firm led by Marina Dal Poggetto.
