Ryan Gosling reveals in GQ that he never thought of starting a family before meeting Eva Mendes in the early 2010s. "I wanted to spend as much time as I could with them," he said.

He assured that he and Mendes did not have a nanny, and that he spent most of his time with the actress and their daughters. "There were times during the filming of The Place Beyond the Pines when we had to pretend to be a family, and I didn't really want to pretend anymore," he added.
