"Someone is trying to push for the construction of two unnecessary and polluting power plants," says the mayor of Hadera, Nir Ben Haim. The discussion, mysteriously scheduled for next Monday takes place contrary to government decision 586 that was received as part of a discussion on construction of power plants for electricity production.

According to the aforementioned decision, the OPC station in Hadersa and another station in the Kesem area should not be built. "The System Management Company (SMC) and the Electricity Authority were asked to hand over to the government in writing documents detailing the electricity production needs for the next decade," says Elad Pinchas, head of the planning division in the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
