Olivier Rousteing is the artistic director of the fashion house Balmain. In an exclusive interview with GQ magazine, he talks about his adoptive and biological parents.
“I am surely the result of rape, so my biological father is not a person to meet,” he says. The 38-year-old says that he doesn't want to fall in love because he wants to be closer to his work and his family. He is very close to the influential Kardashian family and has been at the head of the Balmain house since 2011. The designer was the subject of the documentary Wonder Boy, born under X, in which he went in search of his biological parents and found them but they never deign to meet him. He says that Balmain is today a family that he has built for himself: “You can build a business by building a family, one does not prevent the other.” The designer says that if he fell in love tomorrow, he would be in the extreme and would give up everything.
