The New York newspaper won the international reporting award for its coverage of the Russian invasion. The team of photographers of the first, which captured from the besieged Mariupol the prolonged siege of Russian troops, has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize 2023 for public service.

News issues of national interest, such as the repeal by the US Supreme Court of the constitutional guarantee of abortion or the burning phenomenon of child labor in the world's leading economic power have also been recognized. The Pulitzers also award prizes in other categories, including books, music and theater.
