Under the rubble there are 127 people (ANSA) trapped under the rubble. The earthquake was "the strongest in 25 years", said the director of the Taipei Seismological Center, Wu Chien-fu. Three tsunami warnings were issued following the first violent tremor, for Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center later said the tsunami threat "has now passed"
