7.4 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, 9 dead and 821 injured. Followed by a second shock of magnitude 6.5 and a hundred aftershock.
Under the rubble there are 127 people (ANSA) trapped under the rubble. The earthquake was "the strongest in 25 years", said the director of the Taipei Seismological Center, Wu Chien-fu. Three tsunami warnings were issued following the first violent tremor, for Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center later said the tsunami threat "has now passed"
