A rapid test to detect perennial pollutants in tap water. American scientists have developed a device that can detect the presence of certain PFAS at levels of less than one microgram per liter.

The test may resemble a Covid self-test but it will measure certain pollutants that are currently impossible to measure directly at home. PFAS are so-called “perennial” pollutants with an extremely long persistence time in the environment compared to other substances. They are dangerous for human health and that of ecosystems.
