Six people died trying to rescue an operator who fainted in a gas well in Blaquier, Buenos Aires. Five of the six victims were neighbors and friends of the town.

The sixth, Ricardo Bottega (60), was the "town bomber" who died from asphyxiation. A father and his son, volunteer firefighters and a veterinarian were also killed in the tragedy. The victims are under preventive observation at a hospital in the town of Ameghino. The cause of the gas well tragedy is under investigation.
