Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan voted in the local elections in Istanbul, accompanied by his wife Emine, in the Uskudar neighborhood. Erdogan aims to reconquer the largest Turkish city, which in the elections five years ago was won by the candidate of the main opposition party, CHP, Ekrem Imamoglu. The AKP candidate Murat Kurum was elected to the city council.
