March 8 is International Women's Rights Day. Demonstrations took place in countries where women's rights are particularly violated.

Thousands of Congolese women dressed in black in Bukavu, capital of South Congo. In Afghanistan, small groups of Afghan women demonstrated discreetly, with the Taliban authorities' crackdown on them preventing them from taking to the streets. Nearly 200 women and activists marched in Johannesburg to denounce rapes and abuses committed by Hamas on Israeli hostages in Gaza, and the silence of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
