Alternative medicine can be dietetics, naturopathy, osteopathy, chiropractic, hypnosis, mesotherapy, podiatry, auriculotherapy, acupuncture, homeopathy, reflexology, aromatherapy, hypnotherapy, sophrology. More than 400 so-called non-conventional care practices (NCHPs) are recognized by the WHO.

The Government has been working on the subject in order to better regulate alternative medicine. The National Council of the Order of Physicians fears that the lack of supervision will lead to serious pitfalls.
