Valle d'Aosta is in the lead among the EU territories for the number of cars per inhabitant, with 1,787 vehicles per thousand people. This is what emerges from Eurostat.

In 2021, reports the European Statistical Office, the average number of vehicles in the EU will increase from 0.53 to 0.57. The highest growth was in Romania (+5.4%), followed by Poland (+4.5%) Overall, between 2001 and 2021 the Baltic, Central and Eastern European countries experienced higher growth than the countries of the Western EU.
