A person has tested positive for the H5N1 strain of bird flu after being infected by a dairy cow. Isolated, the patient was treated with an antiviral drug and is “recovering,” authorities say.
The disease manifested itself by redness of the eyes. An eleven-year-old girl died in February 2023 in Cambodia after being contaminated by the virus. The patient reported fatigue as the only symptom, according to the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
