More than 5,400 homes have been damaged and 1,600 people injured in the past week. On Tuesday, China's meteorological authority issued an orange alert, the highest in its three-level warning system, the first since 2013. The worst-hit city was Nanchang, with four deaths and at least 10 injuries reported.
