Santiago Dexeus Trias de Bes, eminent gynecologist and member of a saga of doctors specialized in gynecology, died this Friday at the age of 88. The prestigious doctor, belonging to a family of doctors, was a pioneer in promoting in vitro fertilization techniques from the medical center he founded.

In addition to his career as a doctor and scientist, Dexeus received recognition, participated in international medical organizations and was a university professor. He co-founded the Women's medical center in Barcelona, of which he was co-founder. Some women who were patients at his famous center have thanked him for his career on social media. The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, has noted the “fervent defense” of women's rights that he carried out. He received numerous recognitions throughout his career, such as the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Health, the Gold Medal for Merit at Work and the Creu de Sant Jordi of the Generalitat.
