Roadblocks on several motorways leading to Paris began, as threatened by the farmers' unions, around 2pm. The A13 from Normandy is blocked by tractors, as is the A4 coming from the east.
An urgent, small council of ministers will meet at 3.15pm at the Elysée, around President Emmanuel Macron, to take stock of the situation. 15,000 policemen and gendarmes are deployed on the ground to avoid the blockade of airports and general markets.
