Environment Minister Marina Silva and Indigenous Peoples Minister Sonia Guajajara are under attack in Congress. A joint committee (House and Senate) has given the first green light to a downsizing of their competences.

The measure was celebrated by the bench of the Workers' Party (PT), the group of progressive President Lula. Silva called the so-called 'Marco temporal' measure "one of the worst signals" from Parliament. Guajjara called the measure a "legislative genocide" that "attacks the Brazilian Constitution"
