Salta is the only Argentine province that charges foreigners for admission to public hospitals. Care for foreigners in public hospitals in Salta dropped by up to 90%.

In some Argentine border cities, 90% of the care in hospitals are Bolivian citizens. A foreigner must pay $100,000 per day to occupy a common bed. For a birth, Salta now charges up to $500,000 from people from other countries. Jujuy has long planned to charge public health services. The challenge is that it is a province with a large number of Bolivians.
