Changes to passports and ID cards are intended to prevent problems abroad. From now on, the doctoral title should no longer be noted in the name field in the documents.

Previous problems arose because the abbreviation “Dr.” was sometimes interpreted abroad as part of the surname, which led to delays in border controls. The change is scheduled to come into force on May 1, 2024. The children's passport has no longer been issued this year. This adjustment affects all documents issued or renewed from May 1st.
