Children in poor homes see twice as many ads for unhealthy foods and are twice as likely to be obese. First quantitative study in Spain on unhealthy food advertising shows that those with fewer resources are more exposed.

The Government still has not approved the decree to regulate the sector in Spain. To change the situation, the previous Ministry of Consumer Affairs prepared a decree in 2021 to prohibit the advertising of unhealthy foods on children and adolescents on television, radio, social networks, websites, cinema and newspapers. The Ministry of Agriculture of the PSOE refused to approve it.
